Interview with the Chair of the programme committee

The work of the Chair of the programme committee, Nicholas Kurniawan, is multi-faceted, busy, but above all fun. It can sometimes be a puzzle to put together a programme that is accessible to both junior and senior professionals. Yet he gets a lot of pleasure out of this. Read below why Nicholas thinks you should join us at NWO Biophysics 2025.

What is the importance of NWO Biophysics?

'Even though the Netherlands is a relatively small country, we have a high density of people working in biophysics. Coming together, exchanging ideas and raising our profile is the perfect way to celebrate this!'

Why should everyone attend NWO Biophysics 2025?

'There is something for everyone. At NWO Biophysics, we cover different levels of biophysics. As a beginning scientist, there is plenty of space to learn something new. Think of honing ‘soft skills’ or discovering new career opportunities. Aside from the early-career scientists we have also taken the experienced scientists into consideration. For these visitors we have a variety of interesting sessions planned as well as a group leader meeting.'

Which programme-item are you looking forward to the most?

'Besides all the important scientific content, I am looking forward to all the
informal moments. We shouldn't underestimate how valuable the
moments are that take place outside the formal structure.'
