The most memorable moments of NWO Biophysics 2024

Posters, whales, the MeetUp game, the five step reset and a whole lot of Biophysics. Monday 7 October and Tuesday 8 October were a whirlwind of lively discussions, creativity, and interactive learning.

‘Biophysics is where new collaborations and friendships are born. What makes it unique and important is the combination of different disciplines.’ So says Sandra de Keijzer, head of Chemistry and Physics at NWO, who opened and closed this year’s edition of NWO Biophysics.

In the spirit of collaboration, instead of recapping NWO Biophysics 2024 by recounting the programme, multiple visitors were asked what their most memorable moments during the congress were. These were their answers:

The three most memorable moments of NWO Biophysics 2024

  1. The poster sessions
During the poster sessions you get the chance to speak to the presenter about their work, but also to the other people visiting the poster. This all results in more knowledge about the techniques and theories on the poster and sometimes even about your own research.

  2. The plenary talks
The talks were fascinating and the evening programme surprisingly delved into the subject of marine animals. Seeing all the different talks and the different types of science discussed during the talks was amazing. It was especially interesting to see how the speakers combined different aspects of biology and physics.

  3. The festive programme
The festivities that followed the dinner were especially memorable. It was impossible not to meet other people during the games and it was fun to see the competitive side of a lot of visitors.

After taking a whole lot more than 5 steps, the NWO Biophysics team and programme committee will reset and start working on NWO Biophysics 2025. We hope to see all of you back in October 2025!
