Communication between Trainees and Professors – Helping them help you

Interactions between trainees and their research advisors can be awkward, for several reasons. First, the roles are often poorly defined. Second, trainees and professors typically receive no guidance on how to function in (or lead) a research group. Third, scientists can be socially awkward. If you are a trainee, are there ways you can help your advisor help you to meet your goals? This presentation contains tips on how trainees might communicate better with their research advisors, and vice versa. Additional suggestions from the audience are encouraged!
