Workshop Teaming up with Industry
Are you interested in collaborating with industry partners or curious what it could bring you? Then come and join our renewed Teaming up with Industry session during NWO Biophysics!
The session will take place on Tuesday 11 October at 11.35 hrs in room Kleine Benelux. This year eight companies will give a short pitch in which they introduce themselves and their R&D topic of interest. Subsequently, the floor is open for small group discussions to make the very first start of your public-private partnership project! This workshop offers the possibility to translate fundamental knowledge from the academic biophysics field into practical applications.
Participating companies
Abberior
'from confocal to nanoscale resolution in 2 minutes'.
Confocal.nl
Confocal.nl is a young and successful company, developing, producing and selling confocal add-on equipment. Their products turn normal fluorescent microscopes into a super-resolution microscope which is especially suitable for Live Cell Imaging. They are seeking collaborations for further improving access to proper Live Cell Imaging, for academia and industrial use all over the globe.
Cryosol
VitroJet: revolutionising cryo-EM sample preparation.
Delmic
Delmic is increasingly producing large (upt to 100's of TB) amounts of data with many different types of imaging modalities (electron microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, cathodoluminescence). Users are also increasingly interested in linking this data to other imaging modalities (live cell SRM, soft x-ray, µCT). We are interested to speak with research groups that have ideas on how to handle this kind of large multimodal data in a way that provides the best user experience.
Dispertech
Using light-sheet microscopy and hydrogels to overcome many of the challenges associated with single-nanoparticle counting techniques. We look for partners and collaborators to validate the technology and to extend it further.
ONI
Super resolution microscopy opens new insights. Traditional microscope resolution is not enough to resolve some biological specimens. For instance, extracellular vesicles cannot be visualised with regular microscopes and even with super resolution systems like SIM. The localisation microscopy offers the resolution to visualise these EV's and allow specific labelling of EV components. ONI is constantly looking to collaborations that require the companion of resolution and. multi color labelling.
Single Quantum
Single Quantum develops and commercialises superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors (SNSPDs) for a wide range of applications. In particular, SNSPD technology provides high sensitivity in photon detection, large dynamic range, high time resolution and excellent signal-to-noise ratio, especially in the near-infrared. These are key performance factors for bio-imaging applications. We recently showed that a confocal microscope equipped with our SNSPDs allows the imaging of a live mouse brain through the skull, avoiding invasive protocols without sacrificing spatial resolution. We are looking forward to hearing what kind of samples you wish to image and how we can tackle it together!
SVI
SVI-Huygens at the frontier of quantitative super-resolution microscopy: To enable easy and reliable image analysis for biomedical sciences, SVI-Huygens works with researchers to get the most out their fluorescence microscopy data in a FAIR way. Our world renowned solutions yield scientific insights in nearly all applications of fluorescene microscopy, including 1) at the highest resolution, deconvolution, restoration and quantitative analysis of super-resolution (STED / Array-detection) data, 2) reconstruction and (cluster) analysis of localisation microscopy (SMLM) and 3) at the organ level, a complete solution including deconvolution and stitching of light-sheet microscopy data. Notably, our solutions overlap and can be expanded to restoration of CLEM data.
