Phase sensitive imaging, taking label-free imaging to the next dimension
Label-free microscopy enables the direct visualization of nano- and microscale phenomena across biology, chemistry, and clinical diagnostics. Unlike fluorescence, label-free approaches utilize coherent radiation to enable interferometric and holographic imaging. These techniques provide 3D capabilities, digital correction, and all-optical mass measurements, making them ideal for low-cost, next-generation diagnostics. When combined with label-based methods, they correlate physico-chemical data with molecular insight. During this lecture I will describe our recent advances in label-free imaging for diagnostic and fundamental applications, focusing specifically on viruses, bacteria, and fungi.
