Matz Liebel
Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam
Matz Liebel obtained his DPhil in nonlinear spectroscopy in 2014 from the University of Oxford. He then moved to ICFO where he first worked on single molecule spectroscopy and then started developing holographic imaging approaches as an independent JIN MINECO fellow. Since 2023, Matz is an Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VUA), where he leads the Biomolecular Imaging Lab. His research bridges ultrafast spectroscopy, computational imaging, and nanophotonics to develop next-generation, labelfree tools for biological and biomedical applications supported through various funding schemes including ERC StG and EIC Pathfinder grants. He holds leadership roles within the Amsterdam LaserLab and the Amsterdam Imaging Hub and represents the VUA at the Dutch Physics Council.
